Indochino Celebrates Year of Success with Permanent Flagship Showroom in Toronto
Toronto, ON - Indochino, custom menswear pioneer, is unveiling a permanent flagship showroom at 143 King Street East today, celebrating a triumphant year bringing the custom suit revolution to cities across North America. The new showroom offers a luxurious, salon-style shopping experience and dedicated Groom’s Lounge. It is the first showroom to feature Indochino’s fresh design direction, which will set the bar for made to measure experiences everywhere.
Celebrating a year of success
Opening a permanent flagship store marks a year of exponential success as Indochino continues its mission to get more men in more suits. Over the past 12 months, Indochino has opened showrooms in Toronto, Vancouver, New York, San Francisco and Philadelphia. A sixth will launch in Boston in July and the brand plans to reach ten stores by the end of the year.
In Toronto, Indochino’s first semi-permanent showroom at 425 King Street West has been a resounding success since opening last August, hot on the heels of its best ever Traveling Tailor pop-up shop. In 2015 alone, the number of suits and shirts sold at the showroom has increased by more than half, and the number of new customers has grown 45 percent. This success was the impetus for Indochino to pursue the build-out of a permanent flagship showroom in Toronto.
Kyle Vucko, Indochino’s co-founder and CEO, says: “We’ve had an unbelievable year in Toronto! The number of men we’re suiting up every month is gaining pace and we want to thank our well-dressed guys for helping us thrive. We see a great future in the city and are recognising this with a stunning flagship store that we hope will inspire men across the city to dress their best every day.”
A new vision for showrooms
The 143 King Street East location is the first to feature Indochino’s brand-new showroom design. Embodying the vision of Indochino’s new Director of Visual Merchandising and Store Design, Dean Handspiker, the new design merges traditional tailoring techniques with modern, high tech touch points for a unique personalized customer experience.
Located in the downtown core, adjacent to the design district, the 3,680 square foot split-level space opens onto a spacious front lounge. Custom Indochino fabric panels hang from refined fixtures so that men can easily touch, feel and select their perfect suit fabric. Mannequin clusters showcase the top suiting designs and endless customization options. Tables with marble, glass and walnut finishes are devoted to iMac working stations, shirting options and accessories. When they are not shopping, guests can relax on leather sofas and enjoy the Nespresso bar.
Situated on the mezzanine level is Indochino’s first ever Groom’s Lounge, a dedicated place for men getting married to enjoy the personal shopping experience that until now has been reserved for brides. Complete with sofas and a foosball table, this masculine space allows the groom and his friends to have fun, relax and coordinate their outfits for the big day.
How the showroom works:
- Men schedule an appointment at indochino.com/toronto
- At their appointment, each man is partnered with a Style Guide to get measured and design their one-of-a-kind suit or shirt
- The garment is produced and delivered to the showroom or home in approximately four weeks
- Customers return for a second fitting to make sure the suit or shirt fits the way it should
- Once fit perfection has been achieved, they take home the finished clothing to wear with confidence
A revolutionary concept for an omnichannel future
Indochino continues to disrupt the brick-and-mortar landscape with its omnichannel approach to retail that is geared toward the modern shopper. The showroom operates hand-in-hand with the online store to ensure that customers have a streamlined experience, whether they are visiting the showroom or shopping from home. Men build and order their suit in-store but, unlike a traditional retail outlet, the space has no inventory, with each garment made to measure and delivered four weeks later.
